What is the Church of the Brethren?

The Church of the Brethren traces its origins back to 1708, and was formed as a response to the worldly and violent ways of life its founders saw in the institutional churches of their time. It's one of the three historic peace churches, and encourages a life of simplicity, action, and community, in accordance with what we read of Christians in the New Testament.
